Thigh lift surgery (thighplasty) is designed to address and correct aesthetic issues caused by skin laxity (looseness, sagging) in the thigh area. Thigh lifts are ideally suited for patients who have lost a significant amount of weight, whether through bariatric (weight loss) surgery, or a more traditional diet and exercise program.
- Firms and lifts the thighs, creating a more lean, athletic shape
- Sculpts and tightens the contours of the thighs
- Minimizes the appearance of sagging, excess skin in the thigh region
In order to achieve optimal thighplasty results, this procedure should only be performed by a Board Certified plastic surgeon, such as Dr. Farbod Esmailian, whose private practice in Los Alamitos, CA serves patients in the greater Los Angeles area, including Newport Beach and Orange County. Dr. Esmailian has extensive experience performing body contouring procedures, and his surgical skill, professionalism, and attention to detail has made him the top choice for many patients desiring lean, toned, shapely legs.
Thighplasty can be performed using three different techniques:
- Full Medial Thigh Lift: shapes and tightens the entire length of the inner thighs through an incision at the intersection of the upper thigh and pubic area as well as an incision down the medial aspect of the inner leg
- Mini Medial Thigh Lift: contours and tightens the upper part of the inner thigh with an incision that runs from the groin to the back of the buttock crease
During your initial consultation, Dr. Esmailian will assess your physical health and aesthetic goals in order to determine the appropriate thighplasty technique to utilize during your surgery. If patients present with high levels of fatty tissue in the thigh region, Dr. Esmailian may advise having liposuction performed in conjunction with the thigh lift, in order to achieve the best possible surgical results.
THIGHPLASTY PROCEDURE AND RECOVERY
Thigh lifts are outpatient procedures that are performed under general anesthesia and generally take anywhere from 2-4 hours depending on the type of thigh lift performed. At the conclusion of the surgery, drains will be placed to expedite the removal of any excess fluid. The duration of the thighplasty recovery period will depend upon the nature and extent of the surgery; however, patients should plan to allocate at least 7-10 days for rest and recovery, and should minimize leg movement whenever possible during the healing process. Most post-surgical bruising and swelling will subside within a month, and patients are generally able to resume their normal daily activities within 6 weeks.
