Laser skin resurfacing treatments employ the use of pulsating light beams to carefully and precisely remove damaged skin cells, and simultaneously stimulate the body to produce new collagen fibers, thereby rejuvenating the condition and appearance of the skin. The precisely targeted nature of a laser skin resurfacing treatment prevents damage to the delicate facial skin, and avoids the problem of hypopigmentation (skin lightening).

Laser Skin Resurfacing Orange CountyLaser skin resurfacing is one of the most effective, minimally invasive skin rejuvenation treatments, and can address a multitude of problematic skin issues, such as:

  • Rosacea
  • Acne or injury-related scarring
  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Skin discoloration, hyperpigmentation
  • Melasma
  • Sun damage
  • Textural irregularities
  • Uneven skin pigmentation
  • Enlarged oil glands
  • Enlarged pores
  • Warts
  • Birthmarks and freckles
  • Liver spots
  • Uneven skin tone or pigmentation

In order to achieve the best possible results from your laser skin resurfacing treatment, this procedure should be performed by a Board Certified plastic surgeon, such as Dr. Farbod Esmailian, whose private practice in Los Alamitos, CA serves patients in the greater Los Angeles area, including Newport Beach and Orange County. Dr. Esmailian’s extensive experience performing minimally invasive aesthetic enhancement procedures makes him an excellent choice for patients seeking to revitalize the appearance of their skin with laser skin resurfacing treatments.

There are two general types of lasers that can be utilized during skin resurfacing treatments:

CO2 Lasers: this type of laser delivers short bursts of pulsed light energy to penetrate into the deepest layers of the skin, carefully removing thin layers of skin without causing damage to the adjacent tissues. CO2 lasers are extremely powerful, and significantly improve the condition of the skin after only one treatment. Additionally, because CO2 lasers stimulate collagen growth and production, the appearance of the skin will continue to improve over the next 4-6 months.

Erbium Lasers: these lasers utilize fractionated erbium beams to target and eliminate thousands of microscopic sections of damaged skin cells, and stimulate the body to produce new collagen, which allows the damaged skin cells to be replaced with radiantly healthy skin cells. Erbium laser treatment can safely be used on all skin types, and require little (if any) post-treatment downtime. These treatments are generally performed every 3-6 weeks, with optimal visible results peaking after 3-5 sessions, although gradual improvements will be observable over the next few months because of the boost in collagen levels.

During your initial consultation, Dr. Esmailian will conduct a thorough evaluation of the condition of your skin in order to select the appropriate type of laser treatment to safely and effectively fulfill your aesthetic goals.
