Long Beach Breast Augmentation and Breast Cancer Risk

There has been much talk about Long Beach breast augmentation and breast cancer risk.  Several studies have tried to look at the relationship of breast implants and breast cancer.  There has not been any relationship ever estabilished in regards to breast augmentation and breast cancer, whether saline or silicone implants were used.

In respect to breast cancer screening and mammograms, implants placed behind the muscle do not interfere with the screening exam.  Some would argue that they may in fact enhance detection of breast lesions as the breast implant makes it easier to visualize the breast tissue.  The mammogram technician needs to be informed that you have breast implants in place and they will perform a maneuver to displace the implant to allow visualization of the breast tissue.  This technique is called Eklund’s maneuver.
