Breast Asymmetry Correction
Asymmetrical breasts are not uncommon in women. The condition may include a difference inthe shape, size, or placement of the breast and/or nipples. Breast asymmetry can occur slightly or in much more noticeable cases. This condition can cause women to find themselves feeling very insecure. Breast asymmetry correction can be the perfect surgery for those in need of a more balanced and even look.
How can I prepare for surgery?
Breast Asymmetry is a common procedure, however no two treatment plans are exactly alike. Unlike traditional breast augmentation or reduction surgery, in order to achieve a completely symmetrical look while maintaining a look that the patient is satisfied with is much more challenging. Before the procedure it is important to:
- Discuss ideal breast size for your specific shape and body
- Make sure you ask about risks and complications resulting from breast asymmetry correction surgery, along with the process
- Decide on surgery for the right reasons
- Take all supplements and medications instructed by Dr. Esmailian to do so
What happens during procedure?
Dr. Esmailian is a skilled breast surgeon, though special orders should all be followed to make sure all results are correct and close to perfect. During the breast asymmetry correction surgery a small incision may be made in the lower breast, at the bottom edge of the areola. Dr. Esmailian is able to now shift the breast tissue to a different location or place an implant. With the incision made Dr. Esmailian can now understand what is causing the breasts to grow unevenly. Once the breast is positioned correctly the breast tissue is rounded out and the nipple position is adjusted, the height or width of the areola may also be adjusted.
In certain cases women would like the appearance of a youthful chest area but with an added enhancement. When a woman notices an uneven look concerning her breast size, breast augmentation is usually the best solution. In asymmetrical breasts, when the breasts are a cup size or two different breast augmentation asymmetry surgery may be considered. Usually depending on the severity, an augmentation or reduction will be made, but the overall result aims at symmetrical breasts proportioned to the body and evenly spaced/sized nipple and areola complex.
Recovery
The recovery process after this procedure is very straight forward. Swelling and bruising of the breasts is a very common side effect post-op and should not alarm you. Afterthe procedure you may feel somewhat sore and tired which usually lasts up to 2-3 days. Pain killers will more than likely be administered to help in the tolerance of any pain associated from the surgery. Also you will be given asoft sports bra to help support the breasts while recovery is taking place. The sports bra support also helps in keeping your breasts from moving, causing pain and discomfort. Once you are able to go home, make sure to avoid heavy lifting, household jobs. Avoiding any stretching or bending is also advised to ensure stitching stays in place. After 4 to 6 weeks the sports bra can be worn less or not at all. Usually at 8 weeks patients are wearing a normal underwire bra. At 2 months things have settled and the breasts have started taking shape, but it isn't until 4 months after your surgery that the final results can be appreciated
